AAON Rooftop Seismic Certification Compliance

AAON has seismically certified its RQ and RN series units, up to 30 tons, in accordance with the following International Building Codes:

IBC – 2000, IBC – 2003, IBC – 2006, IBC – 2009, IBC – 2012

The following model designations are included in this certification. For a complete list of certified models, options, and installation methods, see approval number OSP-0180-10, as issued by The State of California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).

RQ-002, 003, 004, 005, 006

RN-006, 008, 009, 010, 011, 013, 015, 016, 018, 020, 025, 030

Seismic analysis and shake testing were conducted in accordance with strict adherence to ASCE 7-05/7-10 and ICC-ES AC-156 (Effective November 1, 2010). The basis of this seismic certification is through successful tri-axial shake testing in three orthogonal directions.

The above referenced equipment is APPROVED for seismic applications when properly installed, used as intended, and located in the North America where the design spectral response acceleration at short periods, SDS, is less than are equal to 2.5g. Installation below grade, at grade, on roof-level and any location in between are permitted and included in this approval. Installation in essential facilities and for life safety applications, both requiring post event functionality, are also included in this approval as appropriate for systems with component importance factors, Ip, equal to or below 1.5.
